Statement of Faith

4word is a Christian non‐profit organization. We believe there is one God, maker of heaven and earth, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (John 14:16‐17, Matthew 28:19).

We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man (Matthew 1:18&23).

The Bible is the foundation for these truths. It is God’s Word uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is authoritative on all matters on which it speaks (II Peter 1:20‐21, II Timothy 3:16‐17).

We believe that Jesus came into this world to redeem us by offering himself as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins; he died for us; and he demonstrated his victory over sin and death by rising physically from the dead and ascending to heaven (Romans 5:8‐9, Romans 6:23, I Corinthians 15:1‐4).

The result of this saving work is the justification, by God’s grace, of all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation (Ephesians 2:8‐10; John 3:16‐17; Romans 4:4‐5).

We believe that God chooses to work through the believers in his church and that we are called to evangelism and discipling of believers within the fellowship of the church (Matthew 28:19‐20, I Peter 2:9). The church is representative of the Body of Christ, of which He is the Head (Romans 12:4‐8).

Who Are 4word Women?

Though professional Christian women share similar values, aspirations, and challenges, the resources they need are enormously different depending on their career stage and marital status.

Single women in their twenties, thirties, and forties often find their careers creep into leisure time and throw life off balance. While the freedom to devote long hours can accelerate a career, access to the wisdom of women mentors and peers who share their values can establish a healthy perspective on priorities for a lifetime.

Working mothers who love their jobs struggle with debilitating guilt at home and work. Their overbooked calendars can isolate them from their own peers, when precious encouragement from someone who relates could refresh their weary souls. Many working moms leave church when ministries don’t align with the demands of a full-time job and child care.

And godly women well into their careers, ready to explore a new professional challenge or to mentor the younger women around them, have a wealth of wisdom to share and only lack connection to the women who are hungry for leadership.

The women we meet through 4word share a desire to use their God-given gifts and experience in a professional setting but need very different resources if single, married, or moms; just starting their careers, or decades in.

Why 4word Matters

  • Of 1,003 families polled by Pew Research, 74% reported that women’s increased presence in the workforce has made it harder for parents to raise children. 50% stated that it makes it harder for marriages to be successful.  –Washington Post Report
  • 84% of Christians ages 18-29 acknowledged they had no idea how the Bible applies to their field or professional interests. – Barna Research Group. Top Trends of 2011, December 2011.
