Friday Favorites
Good afternoon! We hope your week has gone well. It’s been a busy one here at 4word, so we have lots of goodies to share with you in this week’s Friday wrap-up. In case you’re checking in for the first time this week, our theme was “love,” and we’ve been talking about how to navigate the dating scene.

That’s right. While there are still a few weeks left until Work, Love, Pray is available in stores, we’ve decided to make the first chapter available online for free. Is he your future husband? That was the question Diane considered in Monday’s post. She discussed the importance of having a plan of action for evaluating the future of the relationship before you even get into it.
On Wednesday, Andrea Lucado talked to us about how she has seen our culture’s views of marriage and dating changing. Together, we discussed the good, the bad and the confusing part of these changes. We’ll be hearing more from Andrea next week, but we encourage you to read the first part of her interview while you wait.
Around the Blogosphere
Relationships are a popular topic in the blogosphere, and this week was no exception. Below is just a smattering of the excellent posts we found:
- This week, Boundless.org talked about the importance of boundaries in relationships between male and female coworkers in two articles: “Co-workerlationships” and “Workplace Interactions.” Work was also the subject of this week’s The Boundless Show podcast.
- Relevant Magazine also had a couple of great articles on relationships. The first, “Maintaining Messy Relationships,” explains why friendships, even the messy ones, can be “a breeding ground for truth and grace.” The second article, “How to Help People Going Through a Divorce,” shares advice from a recent divorcée on how to be there for your friends when they are experiencing a divorce.
- On the romantic side of the relationships topic, Joy Eggerichs posted a two-part series this week in which she considered the question “is it okay for a women to pursue a man?” Watch part 1 here and part 2 here.
- Last but not least, Marlene Graves posted on Her.meneutics, Christianity Today’s blog for women, about “How to Avoid Marrying the Wrong Christian.”
4word Support Page
Relationships, whether with men or with women, can be a source of confusion and heartache for all of us YPCWs. That’s why 4word has a section on our support page dedicated to relationships. If you’re struggling through an issue with a friend, boyfriend, fiancé or spouse, we encourage you to take a look at the links we’ve posted. As always, if you have a favorite blog, author or website that is not yet on our list, let us know! We would love to add it.
Up Next
Next week’s theme is “work.” In addition to hearing more from Andrea Lucado, we’ll be talking about your future goals and how they relate to your career path. Hope your weekend is restful. We’ll see you again on Monday!
