“Why am I here?”

“What is the point?”

“How do I know I’m headed in the right direction?”

“Does it really matter?”

Have you ever found yourself asking those questions – out loud or in your head? Are you even a real human being if you don’t wonder what your role to play on this Earth is? Knowing your purpose is a completely natural desire to have. And so is wondering what in the world that purpose is!

We all have dreams, we all have goals, we all have ideas of where we see ourselves in the future. The problem, though, is getting ourselves there. Some of us are right on target and will see ourselves arrive at or very close to our ideal destination in life. The rest of us will waste away our days obsessing over whether or not we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing, and will we ever be happy and satisfied with what we do, and will what we do ever make a difference. (That last one hit a little close to home, can you tell?)

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who didn’t want to reach the end of his or her life’s journey and be able to look back with pride and accomplishment. You would also be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t spent a huge chunk of his or her time fretting and duking it out with anxiety over squandering their time and abilities on a purpose or path that isn’t where they should be (or think they should be).

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” – Proverbs 19:21

We at 4word are more than ready to take this month to start dissolving the stigma of purpose. Purpose shouldn’t be a scary thing. It shouldn’t be something we let our precious time be consumed with while we constantly second-guess ourselves. Plans are separate from purpose. Direction is a part of our purpose. So how do we take ourselves off the track of self-doubt and realign ourselves to a purpose-driven path? Let’s find out.
