It’s Time to Stand Up For Yourself at Work

4word community, we are grateful to come to you each week with content that is helpful as you navigate the successes and challenges of life. As we continue to stay apprised of the impact of COVID-19, we want you to know that we are praying for you as you navigate each day! We are grateful during this time to be an army of intercessors praying for the physical and spiritual wellbeing of our friends, our families, and for our world. If you have specific prayer requests, please send those to Irrayna as she consolidates prayer requests for our Boards and staff to pray over each week. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9.

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”

proverbs 27:17

We know we don’t need to tell Christian women in the workplace that they might have it a little rough. Being a female professional comes with its own set of challenges. Add to that a faith foundation and you’ve concocted a situation filled with bias, uphill battles, and doubt that is, unfortunately, the norm for many of our 4word women.

When you’re feeling outnumbered or misunderstood, your first reaction might be to curl in on yourself and just go with the flow of things, hoping that someday, something will change. We are here to tell you that is NOT the way to go! If you’re in a situation where you don’t feel valued or heard in your workplace, now is the time to build your network of allies.

What can a network of allies do? What is a network of allies? We’re so glad you asked. This month, we’re featuring some 4word women who have gone up against bullies, fellow male colleagues not understanding them, and the general misconception that women don’t bring as much to the table, and have carved their own ways into the workplace roles they always dreamed of.

God has placed allies in your path to help guide you down His path for your career. It’s up to you to see these people and understand the role they could play in your life. Join us each week as we learn how to build a network of allies in the workplace, to turn the men we work with into our advocates, and how to come away from April with a strong personal “board of directors” who can help you stand against the current struggles women in the workplace face.
