Don’t Wait to Chase Your God-Given Dreams

In this deeply personal and empowering reflection, Lindsey Nobles, Fractional Chief Strategy & Operations Officer at 4word, shares how years spent championing others’ dreams left her wondering if her own calling mattered. With honesty and hope, she invites readers to consider what dreams they’ve shelved in the name of selflessness or fear—and what might happen if they finally said “yes.” Through healing, single motherhood, and courageous steps toward her God-given purpose, Lindsey offers a gentle but powerful reminder: you are not too late, your dreams are not too small, and you don’t have to walk this road alone. Read on and be reminded—this could be your moment to begin again.

For So Long, I Cheered From the Sidelines.

For the first two decades of my career, I poured myself into helping others bring their visions to life. From the outside, it looked like I had it all—a meaningful job, a front-row seat to inspiring work, and a voice at important tables. But inside, I quietly wondered if there was more. Not more to do, but more that was mine to carry.

I told myself I was being faithful, even noble. Supporting others was holy work—and it is. But the deeper truth? I didn’t believe my dreams mattered as much. I didn’t believe I mattered as much. So I settled for secondhand purpose—always making dreams happen, rarely owning my own.

What Changed? I Did.

The shift didn’t happen overnight. It came through slow, intentional healing. Through counseling (thank you, Onsite), soul-searching, and the presence of wise community, I began to unearth and untangle the lies I’d long believed about my worth and calling.

As I healed, God began to reawaken long-buried dreams. I gave myself permission to imagine something new—something more aligned with the woman He created me to be.

I redefined success. I embraced single motherhood by choice and welcomed my son, Ben, into the world. I stepped into new expressions of my calling—fractional leadership, coaching, consulting, creating space for transformation. It’s not always tidy or linear, but it’s mine. It’s honest. And it’s brave.

As I began honoring my own dreams, I became a more grounded leader, a more present mother, and a more integrated woman. I stopped waiting for life to begin and started living the story God had always been writing.

Regret Doesn’t Have to Win.

Too many women—especially Christian women—sideline their dreams. We call it selflessness. But sometimes, it’s fear in disguise. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear that we’re not enough.

But research confirms what many of us already feel: the deepest regrets often come not from what we did wrong, but from the chances we never took.

What business might you have started?

What story might you have shared?

What legacy might you be building if you dared to believe your dream mattered?

Here’s the truth: regret is a heavy burden. But it’s not inevitable. There’s still time. There’s still hope.

You Are Not Too Late. And You Are Not Alone.

At 4word, we believe leadership begins with stewardship—of our gifts, our stories, and yes, our God-given dreams. You don’t have to go it alone. You were never meant to.

If you’ve been carrying a quiet longing, a dream you’ve set aside, let this be your invitation:

You are worthy of it.

You are capable of it.

And you are not alone.

Start small. Take one faithful step. Tell someone you trust. Watch what God might do when you say “yes” to the dream He’s been planting all along.

Because when women like us live fully—anchored in faith, honest about our desires, and connected in community—there’s no telling what God can do through us.

And that’s the kind of dream worth chasing.
