Friday Favorites
Happy Friday, everyone! Will any of you be hitting the stores for Black Friday this time next week? If so, we wish you luck in your bargain-hunting. In the meantime, here’s a list of our favorite “pray” themed blog posts from this week.
Around the Blogosphere
- “Dealing with Our Failures” – Do you know how to deal with failure? Do you even like to admit it when you’ve failed? If not, “I’ve got some really good news,” says boundless.org blogger Andrew Hess. “God knows about your failures and still has a dream for your life, a dream that He hasn’t necessarily put on hold until you get your act together.”
- “When Our Idols Fall” – Speaking of failure, if you’ve been following the news at all in the last week, you’ve surely heard about the Penn State scandal. This article from RELEVANT Magazine chronicles an alumnus’ response to the events unfolding at his alma mater.
- “Peeling the Labels Off Our Story” – We heard from Lisa Whittle earlier this week on our blog. In this post, Lisa explains that we are more than the labels we or others have stuck on us, because “Our story is not about the worst thing that ever happened to us, nor is it about the greatest thing we ever achieved.”
- “Don’t Be Yourself” – We’ve all heard the advice before: “just be yourself!” As if that’s the solution to almost any problem we could face. But what if we shouldn’t just be our natural, sinful selves, asks The Modern Reject. What if we should be trying to be like Jesus instead?
What are you thankful for?
Next week, we’ll have a special theme on the blog: Thanksgiving. (Surprise, surprise!) We’ll hear from Diane on Monday about what the holiday means to her, but on Wednesday, we’d like to hear from all of you. What are you thankful for this year? Leave your 2-3 sentence response in a comment or email it to awilson@4wordwomen.org, and we’ll include it in next Wednesday’s post. Finally, be sure to stop by on Tuesday for our online book club. We’ll be discussing chapters 4 – 6 of Work, Love, Pray. Have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you Monday!
